Tryon wins his first professional title
by Associated Press

CLERMONT, Fla. (AP) - Ty Tryon won his first professional title Thursday, closing a 5-under 67 for a three-stroke victory in a NGA/Hooters Tour Winter Series event.

Tryon, the youngest player ever to earn his PGA Tour card, finished at 18 under on The Legends course. He earned $11,000 from the $66,300 purse.

Tryon was 17 in 2001 when he made it through all three stages of the PGA Tour qualifying school, ending his remarkable run with a bogey-free 66 in the final round.
